The 2020 edition of the Green Guide to Southern Brittany lists the natural and cultural heritage of Morbihan, Rennes, Southern Finistère and the Nantes region.
The guide ranks the sites according to the Green Guide’s usual scale: To see, Interesting, Worth a detour and Worth the trip.
Three of the eight sites rated “Worth the trip” are close to La Villa du Guern: the Gulf of Morbihan, Belle-Île and the wild coast of Belle-Île. In the selection of the ” Must-see”, you will also find Carnac and its 1000 menhirs, the castle of Josselin described by the authors of the guide as “one of the most beautiful castles in the west of France”, and Quimper, the historic capital of Cornwall. All these sites are also close to La Villa du Guern.
In the ” Favorites ” forming his most beautiful travel memories around La Villa du Guern, the author also cites his walk on the walls of the walled city of Concarneau, his strolls on the island of Groix, the universe of the painters of the Ecole de Pont-Aven, the fascinating guided tour of the submarine base of Lorient, the photo festival of La Gacilly and the museum of the Compagnie des Indes of Port-Louis.
The Green Guide also shares his good addresses for accommodation and restaurants, recommending La Villa du Guern as “an Extravaganza” which he describes as follows:
“This house benefits from an exceptional location, overlooking the Gulf of Morbihan and the Auray River. Inside, rooms with top-of-the-range comfort, including a family suite. Relaxation area on the garden level, sauna, massage room and outdoor spa. Access to the small beach of Dréven, to the coastal path. Oyster farmer at 100m. Bicycles and kayaks on loan. The GR34 at 1km. At the end of the vast garden, don’t miss the sublime view from the heated outdoor swimming pool.»
